U.S. Ski & Snowboard Partnership
The Center for Orthopedics & Wellness is certified by U.S. Ski & Snowboard as a Certified Center of Excellence, offering training and education programs for all U.S. Ski & Snowboard athletes. Barton's historical partnership with U.S. Ski & Snowboard, our commitment to advancing the continuum of care for athletes, and our noted sports medicine specialists and medical providers all contributed to this designation by U.S. Ski & Snowboard.
This partnership allows U.S. Ski & Snowboard athletes to train in Barton's Center for Orthopedics & Wellness with confidence knowing they will receive the same level treatment and training they have come to expect as the Park City Center of Excellence. Collaboration and training between coaches ensures the quality of the program meets the U.S. Ski & Snowboard parameters. Athletes will be able to enjoy the convenience and flexibility of training closer to home.

A Brief History:
Dr. Paul Fry II and Tahoe Fracture played a definitive role in developing the physician medical program for the U.S. Ski Team in the 1960s.
- 1980s-2003: Tahoe Fracture physicians provided medical coverage for U.S. Ski & Snowboard.
- 2003-2012: Tahoe Fracture orthopedic physicians (now Tahoe Orthopedics & Sports Medicine physicians) became an Official Medical Providers for U.S. Ski & Snowboard (formally USSA) with Barton Health as an Official Partner.
- 2012-2015: The partnership expanded to include physical therapists and athletic trainers.
- 2014-2016: As the new Center for Orthopedics & Wellness broke ground, the concept of a U.S. Ski & Snowboard designated center arose. With Park City serving the U.S. Ski & Snowboard athletes, having a second location in the western region for additional training would offer convenience without compromising quality. A licensing partnership and a medical provider partnership was formed, which designates the Center for Orthopedics & Wellness as an official U.S. Ski & Snowboard Center of Excellence.
- 2018: Barton's Center for Orthopedics & Wellness opened its doors and began offering training and care for U.S. Ski & Snowboard athletes in South Lake Tahoe, CA.
